Director, scriptwriter. Winner of the NIKA award for Best Script (2007, “Alive”), prize-winner of national and international festivals. Born in 1959 in Gorky (Nizhni Novgorod). Graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic (1981), then from the directors’ department of the Higher Courses for Directors and Scriptwriters (1995, workshop of A. Proshkin and V. Priemykhov). His diploma film “Just the Two of Us” participated in the Un Certain Regard program at Cannes IFF and has been recognised at many festivals. In 2002 he co-authored the script for the cult serial “The Brigade”, and in the same year filmed the serial “The Law”. His full-length films won numerous awards in Russia. “Alive” (2006) won Golden Eagle, Nika, White Elephant and MTV-Russia Awards as well as two prwizes at ORFF “Kinotavr”. “Russkoe” (2004) and “In the Cape Town port” (2018) were awarded at “Window to Europe” film festival.
